IP change - Update 1 Friday, July 02nd 2004 11:12 AM Posted by DLinkOZ
We've migrated some of our freebie servers over to the new IP addresses. They are:
206.123.68.220 - Quake 3
206.123.68.221 - Call of Duty
206.123.68.222 - Medal of Honor
IP changes coming Thursday, July 01st 2004 12:56 PM Posted by DLinkOZ
On Wednesday, July 21st we will be migrating from carrier-assigned IP space to ARIN-assigned space on our game servers. This should have a minimal effect and should be quite seemless as it only effects one of our DNS servers.
Here's how it will work - Current IP space is 209.120.248.xxx, new IP space will be 206.123.68.xxx. The last octect will remain the same. So for a server running on 209.120.248.220 now, it will become 206.123.68.220.

We're updating our HL servers, so they will be down temporarily until the updating process is complete.

Update Almost forgot to update this, the HL servers are back online and successfully patched.
Recent outages Sunday, June 06th 2004 12:29 AM Posted by DLinkOZ
There have been a few outages recently, and I want to let everyone know that it's only effected the datacenter that our free hosting services run in. None of our customers who pay for their long term services have been effected, as that datacenter is far more robust.

Update to server problem Monday, May 24th 2004 08:47 PM Posted by DLinkOZ
We tracked down the problem!! Checking the NIC stats, there were lots of carrier errors and collisions. A quick check proved that autonegotiation was no longer functioning properly, so I've set the NIC to it's proper speed and duplex settings manually. No further errors of any sort are being logged on the NIC, and all previously viewed packet loss is also gone.
Server problems Sunday, May 23rd 2004 09:22 PM Posted by DLinkOZ
We're currently experiencing problems with one of our locations. I'm looking into it now to try and determine the source.
*Update*
The issue has been resolved. Strangely enough, the box just needed to be bounced with only a few months of uptime. Funny, I thought that remedy only solved problems for Windows...
HL servers and FPS Saturday, May 22nd 2004 07:56 PM Posted by DLinkOZ
We try to run the smoothest possible game servers, especially HL where a real-world benchmark is available for gauging such things. Our goal at FragOnline.Net is to provide servers that run at 200+ FPS, with averages being no lower than 175 FPS. 100 FPS is generally held as the point that a server is considered "quality" and we like to surpass that whenever possible! So, if anyone's ever playing and they feel the gaming experience is below optimal, please shoot me an email with the date, time, and server name so I can look into things. Here's a graph of one of our loaner servers that's available to everyone to book for their own needs:
