I was looking through the list of TFC servers on STEAM and saw an old friend... NeoTF. So our TFC server is now running the great NeoTF mod. If you've never played this mod, I strongly urge you to check it out!

Upcoming server changes

Well, I've decided to mix things up a bit here. Staring September 1st I will be giving away two 16 player servers at random for 1 month each. I will create a thread on the servers forum where people can leave their mark, and I will randomly choose 2 names. Those people will each get the use of a 16 player HL server running just about any mod, except DoD and NS, from the 1st of the month until month's end. This will include HLStats (game support willing). Look for the thread on the boards under the Servers section soon.

*EDIT*
One slight change. We'll be giving away the use of one 16 player HL server every month, and the 2nd server can be any of the following:

Call of Duty
Medal of Honor
Quake III - Base, Orange Smoothie or UT3
Half Life

Seems today that several of the most well known colo and dedicated server providers had major dos attacks today. You can see a running list here. Someone's been up to massive amounts of mischief.

All 3 of our HalfLife servers (TFC, VS and CS) received patches this weekend. In addition, this morning we patched our Call of Duty server and we're waiting for our Medal of Honor server to empty so we can apply it's patch.

Web server outage - 7/13

Most probably noticed that the website was down earlier this morning. The following were effected:

Hosted websites
Hosted hlstats
Hosted Ventrillo

This was due to a hang during a 4gb backup compression. It was caught 20 minutes after the fact at 6:40am CST, however the people actually at the datacenter took their time getting to my reboot request. Some 5 hours later they felt I was deserving enough to go hit my reset button...

On a related note, I may be picking up my hardware (colocated server and firewall) and moving it to the same datacenter as my game servers. More on that, if I get to that point.

VS server

I've gone ahead and started our Vampire Slayer server back up for the general public. 16 slots, up 24/7, enjoy folks. I know there are some diehard VS fans, and the week I ran this before it saw it's fair share of use.

Update:
Over the weekend, our VS server far surpassed all other hosted HalfLife servers here at FragOnline. Number two slot overall was our Battlefield: Vietnam server. Quite impressive for such an underdog mod.
